In keeping with traditional island values, we take great care to use as much of our sheep as possible following their slaughter. We not only use the wool, but also the the fat, which Old Norse Sheep store around the kidneys, for making soap and Liver Paté; both of which we scent with local herbs. Our sheepskins are sent directly from Horn's slaughterhouse to the mainland, where ‘Roar Pels’ tannery (est.1946) process them into high-quality hides and rugs. We include washing and care instructions with all our skins to ensure you can enjoy them for years to come. If you’re concerned about ease of care, then we recommend our short-haired skins which are a washing machine friendly option!
