10 Favner 2 ply, 50/100 g (10 Fathoms)
10 Favner is white lambswool from Vestvågøy in Lofoten dyed with indigo. Crossbred wool of Norwegian White Sheep.
Here on the island, we have a bunch of discerning sheep farmers who are skilled in their breeding work, and wool quality is the focus. This is soft, luxurious, first-class lamb's wool.
We dye the yarn blue with natural indigo dye. We make about 13 skeins per dye batch, and mark each skein with the batch number. We always send colors from the same dyelot per order.
The darker the yarn, the more light-resistant it is and the less rubbing it withstands. This means that it can tolerate more sunlight, but there is a greater chance that some color will transfer to your hands when you knit with it. If this happens, you don't need to worry. It is not dangerous.
Our yarn is washed well after dyeing so that most of the excess color is gone, and it will not transfer color to other parts of the product or other garments. However, it is still good to be careful not to leave the product wet for too long, especially if it is knitted together with lighter colors. It is also recommended to wash your product separately from others.
Same thickness as 2-ply Sandgrunn, 4 Favner, Brådjupt, Steingrunn, Geitrams, Røsslyng, Vinterhimmel, Rød lunde, Rust, Gress and Gul lunde.
You should knit a sample, wash and dry it and then measure/calculate the number of stitches/needle thickness before larger projects.
Our indigo-dyed yarn has images from a map of Lofoten from 1747.
